What the new stores will stock
Each site will be up to 3,000 square foot in size and stock up to 2,500 products, including a mixture of both branded and Asda-branded items, such as a selection of Asda’s premium ‘Extra Special’ range and a more extensive range of fresh produce and chilled lines than is traditionally found on EG Group fuel forecourts.
There will be a difference in the price of products sold at the convenience stores compared to the supermarket’s larger stores though. However, neither Asda nor EG Group would provide examples. EG Group will own, operate and set the price for Asda products sold in the stores after purchasing the food on a wholesale basis. Exact pricing is also determined by store location.
Asda adds that it has no plans to introduce its delivery service to the new stores.
The petrol station kiosks will also include food from other brands, such as Greggs and Subway.
