Customers took to Twitter to complain. Comments included: “I just went into my phone app and it says i don’t have an account!!! I just want to transfer money and can not do that Barclays sort it out!!!!!”

Another customer saw the funny side, they joked: “Disappointed. Was hoping some other bugger had inherited my loans and overdraft”

Barclays tweeted apologising for the problems at 10am this morning saying “Our app is now working – sorry it took us some time to fix the issue.” but customers are flooding the comments section complaining that they still can’t access their online banking.”

One customer replied to them: “App not working and my accounts have disappeared?? I need to move money around. Please advise and I don’t have time to make the trip to the bank which is why I have the App”

Around 65% complaints are down to problems with mobile banking services, 29% are due to online banking services, and 6% are concerning issues with seeing account balances.

It’s not the first bank crash that has hit Brits this week.

On Monday, HSBC and NatWest both went down for thousands of customers.
