High cost for Boohoo of updating its image – The Times

Trying to track down who was really making clothes for the fast fashion retailer Boohoo last year was described by sources as being similar to a Black Ops mission.

Auditors had to swap cars mid-journey, switch phone sim cards and change clothes between visits to avoid being followed by some of Leicester’s hostile factory owners who didn’t want anyone looking at their businesses.

However, after being engulfed in scandal over the treatment of factory workers, Boohoo opened the doors to a handful of its factories this month in an attempt to prove that clothes can be made in Leicester in the right way.
