Sky announces details of new streaming TV where satellite dish is not needed – Daily Record

Sky has announced details of a new product that will say goodbye to the need for a satellite dish and a box for the very first time.

The Sky Glass streaming TV will integrate all of the software and hardware needed for the home theatres of today into just one device.

Scots will be able to choose from five different colours of television and three sizes (43”, 55” and 65”).

And the television can be paid off in monthly instalments from £13 per month – but a Sky TV package will also be required, with prices for both starting from £39 per month.

To upgrade the size of the television, it will cost £4 more for 55” while the 65” version will be £8 extra.

Each of the TVs contains six integrated speakers to deliver Dolby Atmos sound with a subwoofer while being able to broadcast in 4K Ultra HD.

They will also come equipped with an integrated mounting bracket with just a single wire and one plug required to watch away.

Viewers will also be able to access BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, ITV Hub, All4, Spotify and Peloton in addition to their Sky content – all of which will be streamed through the home WiFi.

Scots can access their favourite applications or Sky channels through voice control on the television.

Sky Glass packages will be available to buy in the UK from October 18.

Dana Strong, Group Chief Executive at Sky, said: “Sky Glass is the streaming TV with Sky inside, providing the total integration of hardware, software and content.

“Built on over 30 years of understanding what our customers want, this is a TV that only Sky could make.

“We believe this is the smartest TV available and that customers will love it.”
