Woman dies after Rochdale crash causes McDonalds to be cordoned off – Lancs Live

A woman has died in hospital after a serious crash that resulted in a McDonald’s restaurant being cordoned off for an extensive investigation.

The woman, 78, and a man, 81, were in a silver Proton Savvy which hit a tree, police said.

Emergency services rushed to Kingsway Retail Park in Rochdale just before 1pm on Friday (September 10).

The woman was taken to hospital, where she died, police have now confirmed.

McDonald’s on Kingsway was cordoned off following the incident.

An air ambulance; two rapid response vehicles; a road ambulance; and an advanced paramedic attended.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the crash..

PC Andrew Bennett from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident which has led to the death of an elderly woman and her family are understandably devastated.

“We’re not looking for anyone else at this time but if anyone has any information that may assist us with our enquiries, call 0161 856 4741
